The Film

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine film is based on the Marvel Comics' character Wolverine. Worldwide release of the film took place on May 1 2009.

The film stars Hugh Jackman in the title role of Wolverine and is directed by Gavin Hood. Other members of the cast include Lynn Collins, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, will.i.am, Taylor Kitsch and Ryan Reynolds.

Xmen Origins: Wolverine is a prequel and is set over a decade prior to the previously released X-Men film. The film focuses on the violent past of the mutant Wolverine and his relationship with his half-brother Victor Creed. The plot also details Wolverine's early encounters with Colonel William Stryker, his time with Team X how his skeleton joined with the indestructible metal adamantium during the Weapon X program, combined with the devastating power of the Wolverine claws.
